Consider Resolution making appointment to the office of Municipal Court Clerk and approving compensation for said position.

The current interim Municipal Court Clerk is Melissa Brock, who stepped into the position after the retirement of Yolanda Walker this year. Ms. Brock has acted as Deputy Municipal Court Clerk since 2007. She has been instrumental in the necessary restructuring of Municipal Court this year. Per the Charter of the City of Griffin, Sec. 3.7, Municipal Court Clerk, there shall be appointed by the Commission a Clerk of the Municipal Court, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Commission. Such officer shall possess the qualifications established by law and complete such certification requirements, within the time allowed by law, as may now or hereafter be required for the office. The Commission shall fix the commpensation for that office by ordinance or resolution. The Municipal Court Clerk may be removed from office at any time, without cause or notice, upon the affirmative vote of at least four (4) members of the Commission.

Municipal Court Clerk's position is budgeted at an annual salary of $34,618.
