Consider Resolution, in accordance with the Georgia Election Code and State Election Board, to call for a Municipal Election for Districts 1, 3, 5 and 6, on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, and to establish a qualifying fee in accordance with Georgia Elections Code and Rules of the State Election Board, Section 21-2-131 in the amount of $403.20. City Manager Kenny Smith will address.
| SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS: |
Municipal Elections are conducted in odd-numbered years in conjunction with General Elections. Therefore, an election for the City Commission Districts 1, 3, 5 and 6 shall be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, for terms of four (4) years to commence on January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2021. The Georgia Elections Code mandates that the election be advertised on or before February 1 of the election year, and that advertisement is scheduled to run in the legal organ on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Staff recommends approval.
Funds will be budgeted in the FY 2015-2016 Operating Budget for the cost of the election. The election will be conducted under the supervision of the Spalding County Board of Elections. | | | |
