AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY

Consider approval of task order to Burns-McDonnell for the development of construction documents for the integration of  Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) unit for Still Branch Water Treatment Plant in the amount of $147,300.00 and amend the budget accordingly for the Public Works and Utilities Department. Director of Public Work and Utilities Department Brant D. Keller will address.

High pressure pump #2 was rendered in-operative and currently is under evaluation by the insurance adjuster for the cause of failure. The magna-drives are 10 years old and we are replacing them with variable frequency drives. These pumps, pump finished drinking water from the Still Branch plant to the regional water supply system. The development of these documents will provide design specifications, electrical control panels, SCADA and HVAC bid documents and contract administration.

Staff recommends approval.

Funds to be amended from account 505-4432-53-1230 (Electricity) for this non-budgeted repair. Amount of this task order is $147,300.00. The purchase of unit and installation will be forthcoming when this task is completed.
