Consider a supplemental resolution to ratify/authorize final acquisition of land interests required for GDOT Federal Aid Project No. CSSTP-0008-00 (237) and (238), City of Griffin Intersection Improvements. City Attorney Drew Whalen will present.

This is a GDOT project involving Federal funding in which land acquisition procedures are governed by the Uniform Act. This Board approved a Resolution to Acquire the interests in land needed for this project on September 9, 2014, and set the terms and conditions for initial offers to land owners. The City Manager was directed to bring back to the Board, for ratification and final approval, any deviations including payment of greater than 15% in the offering price. In order to comply with the terms of that Resolution, GDOT/Federal policy, and the Georgia Open Meetings Law, disclosure of the full acquisition costs, the interest acquired, and other material terms and conditions must be disclosed in an open meeting. This Project required acquisition of 2 parcels in their entirety due to uneconomic remnants; in addition, the City elected to acquire the entirety of 2 other parcels to allow for passive parks and landscaping of this transportation corridor.

Approval

Project funds are budgeted. Additional land acquisitions, not eligible for Project funding, have been paid from SPLOST.
