ITEM SUMMARY:

Appoint one member to the Environmental Council to fill a recent vacancy, expiring on December 31, 2014. The vacant position is due to a resignation.

Jay Averett was appointed.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

The Council shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Appointees shall be eighteen years of age or greater, a resident of Spalding County, and persons who have demonstrated a knowledge of or strong interest in environmental protection. Initial appointments to the Council shall be 3 members to serve a 1 year term, 3 members to serve a 2 year term, and 1 member to serve a 3 year term. Thereafter, each member shall serve a 3 year term. Members may be reappointed to succeed themselves.

The vacancy has been properly advertised in the Griffin Daily News and other local media.
