ITEM SUMMARY:

Consider for approval the engagement letters for audit services with Mauldin & Jenkins, Certified Public Accountants (independent auditors) for the City of Griffin.  Mauldin & Jenkins will complete:

 

Annual audit, comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) and OMB Single Audit (if necessary),  

  1. Complete a questionnaire requested by MEAG, and
  2. Complete “agreed-upon” procedures related to the landfill and related annual reporting requirements per the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).   Approved



SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

The engagement letters are required for the auditors to begin work on our annual audit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

  1. Fee for audit services (annual audit and CAFR) will be (not to exceed) $63,900.  Some additional funds are budgeted for additional work they typically discover during the audit process.
  2. Fee for Single Audit Act OMB Circular A-133 compliance is $4,000 for each major program.
  3. Fee for the MEAG report will be $1,300.
  4. Fee for the solid waste report to DNR, including expenses, will not exceed $3,100.
