ITEM SUMMARY:

Consider approval to purchase, with Asset Forfeiture funds, two (2) new vehicles for $55,691.00 (Ford F150 $26,674.00 from Speedway Ford and Chevy Tahoe $29,017.00 from Hardy Chevrolet), to be assigned to Criminal Investigations and Special Investigative Unit, respectively:  declare Units 274 and 1204 as surplus and sale on GovDeals.com;  and amend the budget accordingly.   Chief Steven D. Heaton will address.  Approved


SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

2014 Ford F150 5.0 V8 Crew Cab 4x2 will be purchased from Speedway Ford,  the total price $26,674.00 which includes a spray-in bedliner.  This vehicle will be assigned to CID for multi-purpose use to the fleet, allowing confiscated/seized property to be transported from crime scenes, transporting police equipment and be utilized as a undercover and survelliance vehicle.   The bedliner will protect the truckbed from damage when transporting property or equipment.

2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Pursuit V8  will be purchased from Hardy Chevrolet Fleet Group for the total price of $29,017.00. This vehicle will be assigned to SUI and will be used as a undercover and surveillance vehicle. The Chrome look pop-in rim covers will provide a more suitable appearance in the capacity for which it will be used.

Both dealers listed are State Contract providers.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The Resolution and Budget Amendment appropriates $55,691.00 in Asset Forfeiture funds for the purchase of new vehicles and $4,000 in revenue from the sale of surplus vehicles.
