ITEM SUMMARY:

Consider approval of the bid and work contract for Harry Simmons Water Treatment Plant drain valves to Allsouth Constructor, Inc. in the amount of $93,088.00 for the Water and Wastewater Department of the Public Works and Utilities Department.  Public Works and Utilities Department Director Dr. Brant D. Keller will address.  Approved.


SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

Allsouth Constructors, Inc. was lowest and best bid. Current valves are worn due to age, tuberculation and deterioration of working parts. Over the next serveral years the others will be replaced as part of our plant operation plans for asset repair, replace or rehabilitation program.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Budgeted FY2013-2014 CP2014-4431-4-7 in the amount of $120,000.00.  Engineering and Construction management was $24,720.00 and the amount of this bid is $93,088.00, leaving a balance of $2,192.00.
