AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY

Consider approval of a Resolution accepting a grant from the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) in the amount of $992,893 for construction of the N. Hill Street - Intersection #2 Project, and authorizing the Chairperson and Secretary to execute the Grant Agreement, First Amendment to the Agreement, and related documents. Dr. Brant D. Keller, PhD, Director of Public Works & Utilities, and City Attorney Drew Whalen will address.

This grant will provide funding for construction of the City's portion of a roundabout on N. Hill Street at Tuskegee Avenue & Northside Drive. Spalding County is also participating in this project. The City has acquired right-of-way and easements necessary to construct its portion of the project. Construction start date is April 1, 2017, with an estimated completion date of January 2, 2018.

Staff recommends acceptance of the construction grant.

Receipt of this grant will allow the City to reallocate some transportation funding from the 2008 SPLOST for other transporation-related projects.
