ITEM SUMMARY:

Request approval to purchase a canine from Detection Dogs of America LLC  and amend the budget accordingly.  Chief Michael Yates will address.




SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

This canine will replace service dog Freddy that was retired due to medical reasons on November 11, 2015.



STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The price for the service dog and 80 hours of training for K-9 and handler is Twelve Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($12,4000.00).  Asset Forfeiture will fund Nine Thousand Four Hundred dollars ($9,400) and the K-9 account from Donations to Asset Forfeiture will fund the remaining Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00).
