Consider Resolution making appointment to the office of Municipal Registrar and approving compensation for said position.
| SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS: |
The current Elections Registrar is Teresa A. Watson. Per the Charter of the City of Griffin, Sec. 3.8 Municipal Elections Superintendent and Municipal Registrar, there shall be appointed by the Commission a Municipal Elections Superintendent who shall serve as Municipal Registrar provided, however, the duties of Municipal Election Superintendent are being performed , under ordinance or contract, by the Spalding County Board of Elections and Registration, such officer shall only perform the duties of Municipal Registrar as established by the Georgia Elections Code, O.C.G.A. Title 2. This officer shall serve at the pleasure of the Commission, who shall fix the compensation for the office by ordinance or resolution. This officer may be removed from office at any time, with cause or notice, upon the affirmative vote of at least four (4) members of the Commission.
Staff recommends appointment of Executive Secretary Teresa A. Watson as Municipal Elections Superintendent and registrar.
This position is budgeted at $760.00 annually for FY 15-16 in addition to regular salary. | | | |
