AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
Consider approval of low bidder John Neel & Son Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $39,624 for 1700 feet of directional bore to install new three-phase primary cable along a section of South 6th Street. Electric Director Bill Bosch will address.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS: |
The existing underground primary cable, which is the main feed for Potato Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, was buried without conduit at least twenty-five years ago, has failed and cannot be repaired. While there are other options for replacing the cable, it has been determined that directionally boring new cable in 4-inch conduit is the most cost effective. Potato Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is a critical load for the City and is without a back-up circuit at this time.
Staff recommends approval.
The work will be funded by the Electric Department's Underground Reconductoring Capital Project, which was approved in the amount of $50,000 in FY2015-2016. |
