AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY

Consider for approval the engagement letters for audit services with Mauldin & Jenkins, Certified Public Accountants (independent auditors) for the City of Griffin.  Mauldin & Jenkins will complete:  

Annual audit, comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) and OMB Single Audit (if necessary),  

1. Complete a questionnaire requested by MEAG, and
2. Complete “agreed-upon” procedures related to the landfill and related annual reporting requirements per the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Administrative Services Director Markus Schwab will address.

The engagement letters are required for the auditors to begin work on our annual audit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015.

Staff recommends approval.

1. Fee for audit services (annual audit and CAFR) will be (not to exceed) $64,800.  Some additional funds are budgeted for additional work they typically discover during the audit process.
2. Fee for Single Audit Act OMB Circular A-133 compliance is $4,000 for each major program.
3. Fee for the MEAG report will be $1,300.
4. Fee for the solid waste report to DNR, including expenses, will not exceed $3,100.
