As part of the 2006 Town Center LCI Study, the study identified land use policies and projects that would help improve the downtown area and its corridors.
One policy encouraged the creation of an entertainment district on Solomon Street between 8th and Hill Street. Another recommendation was to create new parks and cultural facilities in the downtown area including a new park on Solomon Street, east of Hill Street, to serve a proposed entertainment district along Solomon Street.
As part of the implementation of the recommendation outlined in the LCI Study, staff is considering the proposal of an Arts / Entertainment Overlay District for the downtown area. The overlay would include uses for art, cultural and entertainment, educational, retail, office and residential, but have a restrictive focus in the Hill Street and Solomon Street corridors.
The Planning and Development Staff recommends APPROVAL of this request.
The Planning and Zoning Board recommended APPROVAL of this request.
