AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY

ITEM SUMMARY:

Consider the approval of a Task Order for the Cabin Creek Wastewater Basin to Burns-McDonnell for modeling wastewater flows and hydraulic design in the amount of $235,800.00 for the Water and Wastewater Department of the Public Works and Utilities Department. Director of Public Works and Utilities Brant D. Keller will address.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

The wastewater collection system has 3 wastewater basins: Cabin Creek, Potato Creek and Shoal Creek. These systems have never been modeled in order to collect and design the sewer rehabilitation projects to correct inflow and infiltration (I/I) of unnecessary water entering into the system. The I/I flows are treated at the plants and result in unnecessary costs to treat wastewater. By reducing flows to the plants, it allows additional volume of real wastewater to be treated and delays expansion costs of the plants in the capital improvement program. Potato Creek will be modeled in 2017 and Shoal Creek in 2018.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Budgeted in FY2015-2016 account 505-4333-52-1200 in the amount of $243,000.00. The amount of this TOF is $235,800.00.
