ITEM SUMMARY:

Consider award of lowest and best bid and construction contract to McCoy Grading, Inc., for the GDOT LMIG program year 2015 in the amount of $433,149.37 for the Public Works and Utilities Department and amend the budget accordingly. Director of Public Works and Utilities Brant D. Keller will address.


SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OR CONCERNS:

In 2014 the City of Griffin agreed to use the funding from Georgia Department of Transportation  LMIG funds and SPLOST funds to improve drainage, mill and resurface portions of Meriwether Street and N. 15th Street, sections of curb and gutter, as well as sidewalks, in conjunction with the new Meriwether Homes Project. The current bid has been negotiated by elimination of several line items which was in original bid. McCoy was lowest and best bid. 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Funding of project to come from GDOT LMIG funding of $196,833.59 already received for 2015 and the balance of $236,315.78 to come from 2008 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). Budget Resolution to amend FY 2014-15 accordingly is attached.
