Consider lifting from the table and dismissal of a request for a variance from Section 708, Medium Density Residential (MDR), of the City of Griffin Unified Development Code to subdivide a lot creating two non-conforming lots, for property located at 728 E. Tinsley Street/228 Morris Street, submitted by Russell Johnson and postponed from the April 28, 2015 Commissioners' meeting. Director of Planning and Development, Toussaint Kirk, will address.

The Variance request stemmed from the applicant’s property having dual frontage along two (2) roadways with two (2) single family homes constructed on a single lot. The applicant wishes to subdivide the property so that the houses can be sold separately.
Upon further research, it has been determined that a plat was recorded, on July 12, 1989, showing that the original parcel was subdivided into two parcels. Therefore, the request to vary is not necessary and is recommended to be dismissed. A copy of the plat is attached for your review.
In light of this new information, Planning Staff recommends dismissal of the variance request after it has been removed from the table.
